Service. Strength. Solutions.

Campaign Hero

My Bio

I am Monet S. Wilson, a public servant and lifelong community advocate currently serving my second term as Alderwoman of the 2nd Ward. My work in public office is grounded in transparency, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring that government serves the people—not political interests.

Throughout my time in office, I have prioritized responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, community safety, and policies that support working families and protect our most vulnerable neighbors from rising costs and systemic inequities. I bring firsthand experience balancing complex, multimillion-dollar budgets and making tough yet responsible decisions to ensure public funds are used efficiently and transparently. This fiscal leadership has prepared me to take on the challenges of state-level appropriations—where thoughtful budgeting and strategic investment are critical to delivering real results for Illinois families.

My approach to leadership is centrist, solutions-oriented, and grounded in residents' real needs. I believe effective governance means asking tough questions, making data-driven decisions, and demanding ethical, transparent conduct from public institutions. I work across political lines to build coalitions, yet remain independent in my judgment—guided always by the voices of constituents and the values of fairness, equity, and public trust.

As an elected official, I've worked on issues ranging from neighborhood revitalization and infrastructure investment to youth programs and small business development. I understand that real change comes from the ground up, and I'm proud to champion policy reforms that strengthen government accountability, expand economic opportunity, and create safer, more equitable communities.

My background includes extensive experience in public engagement, program development, and community-based advocacy, all of which continue to shape my pragmatic, partnership-driven approach to policymaking. From introducing ordinances and overseeing city services to advocating for constituents and shaping strategic policy, I bring a hands-on understanding of the wide-ranging responsibilities that come with public office—experience that aligns closely with the work of a State Representative.

To me, public service is about integrity, responsibility, and impact. I remain committed to serving with honesty, purpose, and a relentless focus on building stronger, safer, and more equitable communities across the 29th District of Illinois.

My Key Issues

Safer Streets

Fight for safer communities through prevention, accountability, and strong partnerships that support law enforcement.

Lower Property Taxes

Cut property taxes by creating relief programs like circuit breakers to protect families from being taxed out of their homes — and by fixing how Illinois funds schools.

Protecting Taxpayers

Implement and enforce government ethics and anti-corruption measures that protect taxpayers by putting Illinoisans first, stop career politicians from profiting off of poverty, and demand transparent government that helps everyone thrive.

Cutting Waste

End wasteful spending by ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly, and government works for WE the people.
